Call tariffs in Thailand

It only costs 1 baht per minute ($0.03) to use mobile Internet in Thailand and less than 49 baht (approx. $1.63) per day, regardless how much time you surf the Internet. There are also comprehensive optional Internet packages that makes it even cheaper to use Internet. There are no charges per MB.

Local calls in Thailand

Between 10 AM - 6 PM: First minute 2 Baht (approx. $0.07). Additional minutes 0.25 Baht/minute (approx. $0.01)

Calls between two fellow travelers in Thailand using HolidayPhone

Calls between two travelers using HolidayPhone cost the same as a local call (see above). If you are traveling in a party, we recommend that you order HolidayPhone for the entire group, so that you can all make cheap calls to each other throughout your trip. Just use the local Thai phone number provided.

As a comparison, it could cost you up to $10/minute to make calls between two US cellphones if you don't use HolidayPhone in Thailand. The international roaming charges at both ends mean that the caller and receiver both end up paying astronomical charges for the call. It only takes a couple of minutes to regain the cost of your HolidayPhone kits if you're both using HolidayPhone, paying just $0.01/minute!

Top up your SIM card call balance

The easiest way to top up your card is to buy refill codes from HolidayPhone before you leave.
We will then send you a voucher with a code. The voucher provides a call credit of 500 baht + 50 bonus = 550 baht. You simply enter the code into your phone upon arrival in Thailand, by dialing:

*100*CODE#

That's it! Your call balance is now topped up with 550 baht. It works just like a regular Pay As You Go SIM card.

What if my call balance runs out?

At any time during your trip, you can top up your call balance with more outgoing credit for calls by purchasing more vouchers containing refill codes. These are sold in kiosks and supermarkets throughout Thailand, e.g. at 7-Eleven.

Calling the US from Thailand with HolidayPhone

When calling the USA using your HolidayPhone SIM card, just dial 004 1 followed by the US phone number. For example: 212-333-4444 becomes 004 1 2123334444.
It is very important that you use 004 1 and not just +1 since using 004 1 is what makes the call cheaper. The only time you should use +1 is when sending text messages.

Receiving calls in Thailand

You receive inbound calls dialed to your American mobile phone number just as usual as all calls are seamlessly forwarded from the US to your Thailand prepaid SIM card without any expensive roaming charges.

Cheap mobile Internet in Thailand

With HolidayPhone, mobile Internet surfing in Thailand costs just 1 Baht a minute (around $0.03). You will pay no fixed price per MB, no matter how much you download. The maximum daily cost is just 49 baht ($1.63). After you have reached this limit, you can use unlimited data usage for that day without any charges.

The speed is GPRS, except in Bangkok where certain locations offer 3G. But GPRS data is more than adequate for emails and normal mobile surfing.
